Thai knockout artist Watcharaphon Laochokcharoen will attempt to extend his perfect ONE Championship record when he faces Akram Hamidi in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 164. The strawweight Muay Thai contest takes place on July 31 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok. Watcharaphon enters the bout with five consecutive ONE victories, including four finishes and three first-round knockouts.


The 33-year-old PK Saenchai Muaythaigym fighter believes his boxing will be the key to another victory. Watcharaphon has built his recent success around powerful combinations and aggressive counterpunching. Although his latest opponent, Leandro Douglas, survived all three rounds, the Thai veteran controlled the fight and earned a unanimous decision.


Hamidi presents a different challenge. The 27-year-old French-Algerian striker is a three-time ISKA Kickboxing World Champion and a WBC Muay Thai International Champion. His speed, movement and dangerous body punches have already caused problems for several high-level opponents.


The Frenchman has previously faced former and current ONE World Champions Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Prajanchai PK Saenchai. Watcharaphon has prepared for Hamidi’s speed with help from Prajanchai, who defeated the French-Algerian fighter in 2023.




Watcharaphon understands that a sixth consecutive victory, especially another knockout, could finally earn him a $100,000 contract and a permanent place on ONE Championship’s global roster. However, he insists that his immediate priority is defeating Hamidi and protecting his unbeaten promotional record.


With Watcharaphon searching for another knockout and Hamidi returning determined to revive his ONE career, the main event promises an explosive battle between power and speed.
